Two available types of adoption in Thailand
Thailand domestic adoption This type of adoption is only available to an adopter who resides in Thailand.
Thailand Intercountry Adoption, This type of adoption is exclusively for foreigners who want to adopt a Thai child and want to raise and raise the child outside of Thailand.

Preliminary qualifications for an applicant for adoption in Thailand:
- The applicant must be over 25 years old and at least 15 years older than the adopted child.
- The foreign applicant must have a legal spouse. Assuming the applicants are applying as a couple, this does not apply to the Thai adoptee.
- The foreign applicant must be eligible to adopt the child by the law of their country of residence, and that country must have diplomatic relations with Thailand.
Foreigners who can apply for adoption in Thailand:

- A foreigner who has a residence outside Thailand can apply for adoption in Thailand through the competent authority of their country and non-governmental child protection agencies licensed to work with the Department of Social Development and Welfare (DSDW) Child Adoption Center of the Thai Ministry of Social Development and Human Security.
- A foreigner with a place of residence in Thailand with proof of residence and home registration can apply for adoption in Thailand at the place of residence. An applicant residing in Bangkok may apply at the DSDW Adoption Center. Applicants residing outside of Bangkok can apply to the DSDW of each province.
- A foreigner who has a temporary residence in Thailand with proof of work permit issued by the Thai Ministry of Labor Department has been living in Thailand for at least six months before the application and can complete the six months before adoption in Thailand can apply for adoption in Thailand along with the necessary documents certified by their embassy or consulate in Thailand, to the DSDW Adoption Center.
