Hotel license

Obtaining a hotel license takes a lot of time, so working with a company with experience in this matter is wise. The need to obtain a hotel license arises if at least one room will be rented for rent, regardless of the name used (dormitory, guest room, apartment, or something else).

Steps of obtaining a hotel license

☑ Application for a building permit at the district office, which is signed / must be requested by an engineer or architect (five working days).

☑ Application to the provincial office (10 business days), which will forward the Application to the Health, Environment, and Building Authorities, each of which will have to inspect and approve the building (90 business days).

☑ Issuance of a license (15-30 business days).

☑ The total time to be taken into account is approximately six months.

Only a Thai director may sign this Application and other related documents. Moreover, by law, there must be at least one manager who will control the Hotel's operation when obtaining a hotel license.

If you take over an existing business, you will need to transfer the hotel license to your name (individual or company). Fingerprints (of an individual or a director) will be taken at a government agency. There is no state fee for the transfer of a hotel license.

If the premises are in residential buildings and include no more than four rooms for less than 20 beds, you do not need to apply for a hotel license. The officer must be informed of this for verification and classification.

Types of hotel permits

☑ Trademark logo registration in exact color.

☑ Hospitality and restaurant business: 20,000 THB registration fee.

☑ Hotel, restaurant, and seminar rooms: registration fee THB 30,000.

☑ Hotel, restaurant, seminar rooms, entertainment business: registration fee THB 40,000. Each room has an additional charge of THB 80 per year.

The license must be renewed every five years, and 50% of the cost of the state fee is paid.

The documents that must be provided mainly consist of a building permit, an interior map, landlord documents, a location map showing no school or temple nearby, and company documents.

Signers and Redrawing

Only a Thai director may sign this Application and other related documents.

Moreover, when obtaining a hotel license, by law, there must be at least one manager who will control the operation of the Hotel.

If you are taking over an existing business, you will need to transfer the hotel license to your name (either as an individual or a company). In a public institution, the individual or director will be fingerprinted.

There is no state fee for the transfer of a hotel license.
