Retirement Thai visa
What you need to know about the Thai retirement visa:
- Thai Retirement Visa is a popular name for the 'Non-Immigrant OA-Long Stay Visa.'
- Visa can be valid for both single and multiple entries into Thailand.
- This long-term Thai visa gives the holder the right to stay in Thailand for one year.
- The visa is renewed annually, and the renewal process can be done without leaving Thailand (the requirements for visa renewal are the same as those for obtaining).
Thai Retirement Visa Requirements
- Applicant must be at least 50 years old.
The applicant must meet the following financial requirements:
- Have a deposit of 800,000 THB in a Thai bank* 2 months before applying for a visa
- Have a verified monthly income of at least 65,000 THB
- Combination of the security deposit and annual verified income of THB 800,000
*Contribute possible
Supporting documents:
- In depositing funds to a deposit account, a bank book (with an updated statement) or a savings book is provided with a letter from the bank stating that the money was deposited to the account from a foreign source at least two months * before the application.</ li>
- In case of earning income, a letter from the embassy in Thailand is provided confirming your monthly income or a 12-month bank statement showing a regular flow of 65,000 baht to a Thai bank account
- Other documents that may be required and must be submitted:*

- Medical certificate
*Not required when applying for a visa to Thailand, although there may be times when an official from a Thai embassy or consulate may ask for these documents before issuing a visa.
If spouses plan to live in Thailand, one of whom is less than 50 years old, it is possible to obtain two visas. The first is for a pension, and the second is for a family member.
The retirement visa process in Thailand
The Thailand Retirement Visa can be applied in your country of residence or Thailand.

Additional information for Thai Retirement Visa holders:
- 90-day Reporting
Every 90 days, you must report to the nearest immigration office with your current address.
If the Retirement Visa holder is outside of Thailand on the date of the report, the calculation for the 90-day mark will start again upon re-entry into Thailand.
You can also enlist the services of an agent to do this on your behalf by proxy.
- Re-entry Permit
If you plan to leave Thailand during the validity of your visa, you will need a multiple re-entry permit to avoid visa expiration. Permission does not need to be done if you plan to stay in Thailand during the validity of the visa.
Suppose you need to leave the country for any reason. You can apply for a permit and re-entry at the nearest immigration office or an international airport before leaving the country.
- Bank account
The retirement visa is valid for one year and can be renewed if the same requirements are met for the initial application. Please note that the necessary funds must be received in a bank account no later than three months before the date of application for a visa extension.
- Import of personal property.
Please note that retirees cannot import their items into Thailand duty-free.
