Exceeding the validity of the passport
When visiting Thailand without a visa, a passport is required. As a rule, the Immigration Service of Thailand allows Russian citizens whose passport is valid for 30 days or more to stay in Thailand. Russian citizens whose passport validity is less than 30 days are allowed to stay in Thailand within the validity period of their passport.
However, some airlines may refuse to fly those citizens whose passport is less than six months valid. It is at the discretion of the airline staff.
Visa-free travel violations
If not departing from the country by the date stamped, tourists must pay a fine of 500 baht for each day they exceed the permitted visa-free stay in the country.
Extension of stay in Thailand on visa-free entry
Beginning August 29, 2014, tourists who enter Thailand under a visa-free regime can extend their stay by an additional 30 days, up to 60 days. To apply for the extension of stay, you must apply to the office of the Immigration Office of Thailand, fill out an application, and provide a passport and a passport-size photo. The cost of the extension - is 1,900 baht.
