Non-immigrant 'B' visa in Thailand
Business visa categories
There are two categories of business visas:
1. Non-Immigrant' B' Visa (Conducting Business)
Foreigners wishing to conduct business in Thailand must apply for a 'B' non-immigrant visa.
- 90-Day Non-immigrant Visa (Single Entry)
The Thai embassy or consulate issues this initial visa in your country, which allows you to stay 90 consecutive days in Thailand.
- One-Year Non-immigrant Visa (Multiple Entry)
Issued to those who want to do business and intend to leave and return to the Kingdom frequently. The initial non-immigrant visa can be extended to this visa once a work permit has been obtained.
2. Non-Immigrant' B' Visa (Employment)
- Foreigners who intend to work in Thailand must obtain a 90-day non-immigrant 'B' visa from their country of employment.
- A work permit is issued within the first 90 days.
- Once a work permit is granted, a one-year non-immigrant 'B' visa will take effect.
- A 90-day stamp at any Thai Immigration Office is required from a visa holder of this category.
- A re-entry permit is not required if the applicant wishes to leave the country.
- Renewal of this visa can be processed within Thailand.
Requirements
Applicants for a non-immigrant business visa in Thailand must demonstrate that they are not a threat to public and national security. In addition, candidates must be physically present in the country where they applied for a visa.
General requirements for this type of visa:
- Passport with at least six months validity from the expected arrival date in Thailand.
- Invitation or confirmation letter to clarify the purpose of the trip issued by the relevant organization.
- State duty.
- Additional documents at the request of the Royal Thai Embassy or Consulate.
- Proof of funds and travel itinerary
Visa applicants are advised to apply for a visa by mail or person at the Royal Thai Embassy or Consulate in their home country.
Initial Non-immigrant Business Visa Application Process
- Preparation of documents provided to applicants for the company or organization that provided the invitation.
- Submit the required documents to the Thai embassy or consulate in the applicant's country of residence by mail or in person.
- Payment of government fees can be made in cash, by check or by credit card.
- Accepting the application and processing the visa.
- Processing time is usually 5 to 10 business days, depending on the Thai embassy or consulate where the application is submitted.
